National Parks?

Day-trips to different National Parks and Historic Sites can be made from our location.

Banff National Park is only a 25 minute drive, whereas Jasper National Park can be reached in just over an hour. Yoho National Park is about an hour and forty minutes drive. It is important to note that, because there are so many sights and hikes in the parks, it is not recommended to visit more than one or two of the major attractions for each park in one day. While it is possible to visit Banff or Jasper town sites in a day-trip from Aurum Lodge, you will be spending four to five hours driving, which leaves limited time for sightseeing on the way or at your destination. If the Mountain National Parks are your main goal, we recommend to stay at the Georgetown Inn in Canmore to explore Canmore, Banff and Kananaskis area, then move on to Aurum Lodge to visit attractions in the central portion of the two parks, and from here move on to the Overlander Mountain Lodge near Jasper, to visit Jasper, Maligne Canyon, Miette Hot Springs, etc.

Two National Historic Sites can be reached from our location in Nordegg and Rocky Mountain House.
